B5 has been shown to be an effective moisturizer on the skin that enhances the healing process of skin wounds. 

Copper Tripeptide-1 is naturally occurring in the body, it is composed of the amino acids Glycyl-histidyl-lysine, which spontaneously bind to copper, also known as GHK Cu. Copper Tripeptide-1 has many benefits within the human body such as the production of glycosaminoglycans, which help in the reduction of wrinkles.  Copper peptide also helps to remove damaged collagen. 

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring acid found in the extracellular matrix of human tissue. Topically applied hyaluronic acid forms an air permeable layer and penetrates into the dermis thus boosting the elasticity by affecting the collagen levels and increasing hydration of the skin.

The protective breathable barrier on the skin locks in moisture which gives the skin a youthful appearance.  The cuticular layer of the skin normally contains 10-20% water, however as we age it can drop to below 10%.  Hyaluronic acid comes to the rescue with its unique ability to hold more than 1000 ml of water per gram of hyaluronic acid, which is a key factor in allowing the skin to retain more water.  Amazingly, hyaluronic acid adjusts its moisture absorption based on the relative humidity in the air.  It is the ideal ingredient in skin care products as it adjusts to the skin’s need for a moisturizing effect depending on the relative humidity of seasons and climate of an area.  Hyaluronic acid also protects the epidermis by scavenging reactive oxygen species generated by ultra violet light which would normally cause sunspots.  Hyaluronic Acid is one of the most exciting ingredients on the market today.  It was discovered by Karl Meyer in 1934 and has been successfully used in personal care and wound healing ever since. 

Until the 1990’s the only method of producing hyaluronic acid was extracting it from rooster combs.  Currently there are two forms of hyaluronic acid on the market; one derived from rooster comb and the other derived by the fermentation of yeast. Bellahut only carries the 100% vegan approved material. 

Marine Bioferment

Macrocystis pyrifera, the substrate in our bioferment, is a rich source of iodine, potassium and many essential minerals. It also contains organic chemicals like alginic acid, laminaran, laminitol, lutein, zeaxanthin, xanthophyll, violaxanthin, fucosterol, sulpholipids, inositol, phytol, phloroglucinol, aldobiuronic acid and much more. Plus, it contains fucoidans  (1) Porphyridium extract - The extracellular polysaccharide produced by this red alga  has sulfate groups attached to the backbone are also non-reducing terminal D-xylopyranosyl and galactopyranosyl residues. It is known that this polysaccharide has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, and the xylitol residues may be responsible in part for the anti-inflammatory properties (we use xylitol in our anti-inflammatory cream).  (2) Arthrospira extract - This extract provides extra nutrition: more proteins, carbohydrates, essential fatty acids, vitamins, minerals, carotenoids, and even some sulfolipids that seem to have antiviral properties. The anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic properties of this extracts make it an essential active for eczema, psoriasis and other skin affections.  (3) Brown algae extract enriched in fucoidan. Fucoidans are sulfated polysaccharides with a structure that depends on the plant source, and growing conditions. Applied to the skin fucoidan will increase the density of collagen bundles, decrease activity of proteases (enzymes that break down dermal proteins), increase scavenging of free radicals and increase cell proliferation. These effects would be mediated through increased expression of integrin a2ß1 and may also help with wound healing.
