Virginia, North Carolina or South Carolina prior to the Civil
War, this

This DVD includes scanned copies
of the original 1860 Kansas census. Seven PDF files include all counties
existing in 1860.
Over 9,000 of the individuals surveyed were from Tennessee,
Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina.
Information given on each person
includes name, age, sex, occupation, as well as an indication of their original
State, and
also county, township, and post office of residence in Kansas.
Legibility of census
records varies,
depending on handwriting of census taker, quality of ink used,
paper damage over the years, quality of the
scanning process.
Different from
transcribed census
records, these contain all information collected by the
census taker.
These also give a sense of relatives and
neighbors living
nearby.
Just insert the CD into your Windows computer and use the menu to open your book(s), and to download the latest version of Adobe Reader.
If your system security prevents the CD from auto loading, just double-left click the Autorun file on the CD.
For MAC (or Windows) manually open the .PDF file(s) for your book(s) don’t forget to also open the pictures/maps (.jpg) and audio files (.mp3).
