It was originally founded in the 1990s as a fund-raising business dedicated to helping small private schools and daycare providers, but was only open in that capacity for 3 years. Reddy Giftware has recently re-opened online and is just getting underway. The owner's desire is for Reddy Giftware to become an online provider of unique gifts, including cultural items and novelties from specific regions around the world. She takes pride in her own collection of world treasures and in the cultural diversity which they represent. Her world travels began at the age of 16 when she toured Europe taking college-level art history classes as part of an American Foreign Exchange program. Luckily, her long career in software development allowed her many opportunities to travel extensively and to study, admire, and embrace different cultures. Her daughter has also travelled overseas as an American Student Ambassador. Both children share her passion for travel and her curiosity about other cultures from ancient times to present day. Reddy Giftware hopes to one day help inspire these same passions in others.
The company name is small tribute to the inspiration provided by Helen Reddy's song "I Am Woman" during the owner's childhood. Reddy Giftware encourages young ladies (who likely have never heard of Helen Reddy) to purchase a copy of this song or at least download the lyrics. Imagine the empowerment this song provided to young ladies 3 decades ago.
