Osmo Top Oil 3058 Clear Matt, 3068 Natural, 3061 Acacia Matt, 3028 Clear Satin

Item Description

This listing is for 500ml litre tin(s) and 125ml tester pots of Osmo Top Oil in either 3058 (Clear Matt), 3068 (Natural, Matt), 3061 (Acacia, Matt) or 3028 (Clear Satin) with free express delivery by courier (tester pots are sent by Royal Mail 1st class) and a detailed instruction sheet. The 3068 natural version is similar to the 3058 but contains a small amount of white pigment to offset the slight yellowing that is caused by standard oils such as the 3058 and is designed to be used with light coloured wood only. The 3061 Acacia is lightly pigmented to darken and enrich the finish. If you are in any doubt we always advise doing a test on a small inconspicuous area first. Osmo Top Oil 3058 and 3028 are now available in 125ml tester pots.  A base coat of Osmo Wood Protector 4006 is recommended to increase the water resistance in areas subject to high amounts of moisture. Please note that Osmo have changed the description of 3028 from satin-matt to satin but there has been no actual change to the product or its finish.

Please note there are now several new finishes, please see our other listing for details.   https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/202876866280

Product description:

Osmo Top Oil is a special oil and wax combination, especially designed as a clear treatment for use on kitchen worktops and wooden furniture. Osmo Top Oil like the market leading Polyx oil is made with a base of natural plant oils and waxes. This leaves the surface protected against common household substances such as wine, beer, fizzy drinks, coffee, tea, fruit juices, milk and water in accordance with DIN 68861-1A (German industrial specification).

This great eco-friendly finishing treatment from Osmo is designed to protect and preserve all* internal wooden worktops and joinery. Key benefits include:

Wooden surfaces retain their natural matt finish and become resistant to common household stains.
Osmo Wood Protector is recommended as a base coat when used in kitchens
High quality and durable finish that is microporous
Natural oil/wax based
Water repellent and indelible
Does not crack, flake or blister
High coverage of approximately 24m² per litre per coat, two coats are required on new applications
Long shelf life of 5 years or more if can kept tightly closed.
*Not recommended for exotic wood species such as mahogany, Rosewood, Wenge etc. If in doubt please contact us first. For exotic woods please see our listing for Wood Wax Extra Thin 1101.

Preparation:

The wooden surface must be clean and dry (max. 20% moisture content). Clean or lightly sand old microporous stains. Remove old varnishes (use Osmo Paint Remover or sand down). If necessary sand down the surface using fine sandpaper (grit P 120-150), carefully remove dust. Always wear a dust mask when sanding.

Application:

Osmo Top Oil is ready to use. Please do not thin. Shake well before use. Apply thinly with a cloth, following the grain of the wood. Leave to dry overnight for at least 8 "10 hours. Allow for good ventilation. Repeat 2 " 3 times as described above and allow to dry for 8 " 10 hours between the applications. The finished surface is, among other things, influenced by the woods natural characteristics, therefore a trial application is required before finishing.

Cleaning of tools:

Use Osmo Brush Cleaner (benzene-free) or white spirit.

Drying time:

Approx. 8 - 10 hours (normal climatic conditions, 23°C/50%, rel. humidity). Lower temperatures and/or high humidity can increase the drying time.

Note:

For the insides of cupboards and draws, apply only 1 thin coat with a cloth and leave to dry with good ventilation. If a deeper satin finish is required, the surface can be polished using Osmo Liquid Wax Cleaner (also available as a spray).

Every order is sent out with a detailed product information sheet but please contact us should you require any further information. If there is any doubt over application we always recommend doing a test area first.
