Hot Metal
"Everywhere you look, we’re slowing down. With concorde in a museum,
air travel is slower. And even the fighter jets of today would be
smashed by the interceptors from the sixties.
But what about cars? I decided to find out whether today’s cream can
blast the monsters from the power crazed eighties. Are the new breed
quicker in a straight line. Do they corner faster. Which are better
looking and which can make the best noises.
That means the 200 mile per hour Jaguar XJ220 taking on a Pagani
Zonda. It means pitting a Mclaren Mercedes SLR against a Porsche
Carrerra GT – the first time ever these cares have been brought
together. And it means lining up the new Fort GT with the car that
spawned it – the old GT40. It means epic head to head drag races.
Naturally, the new Aston Martin DB9 is here too, taking on the old
warhorses, the V8 Vantages. And the Evo 8? How much faster is it
than the Evo 1. The answer might surprise you.
Oh and of course, I just had to riddle a Nissan with machine gun
fire as I take up the new and dangerous sport of "Clay Car
shooting".
Why? Why not!"
The Good The Bad The Ugly
"Top Gear presenter and speed freak, Jeremy Clarkson, takes on
America in his quest to find heavyweight speed machines.
Clarkson combs the byways of the US to find out whether American
muscle cars are any match for old-fashioned British engineering and
European design finesse. Pitting American classics like the Dodge
Viper against a BMW Z4M or the diminutive Lotus Exige against a
highly souped up Ford Mustang, the show is clearly out with an axe
to grind.
Clarkson's by now customary madman antics are on show throughout
with experiments including shooting up a Prius - Toyota's
ecologically sound car and racing Mustang cars against Mustang
horses."
Thriller
"Welcome to my all new DVD
Thriller, which, as the name suggests, is all about thrills at the
wheel. Aston Martin’s gentleman thug, the DBS, takes on its rivals
from Italy. The lightweight Lamborghini Superleggera battles it out
on the track with Ferrari’s 430 Scuderia and my test of the best
takes me to the breathtaking roads of the Swiss Alps, the no limits
German autobahn – and, er, Norfolk.
I swap racing overalls for camouflage uniform to join the Marines at
the controls of an all-terrain Viking before using its machine gun
to shoot a Lexus…in the face. The 200 mph Porsche 911 turbo struts
its stuff in its natural habitat – the autobahn. And I get a lungful
of turbocharged fresh air from the 240 mph Pagani Zonda Roadster F.
Then there’s the rocket science – Clarkson-style – as I fit a
Porsche 944 with rocket launchers (they only look like drainpipes
wrapped in silver foil). I also blast fireworks at a speed camera
and have a bit of an accident with a double-decker bus. I drop a
7-tonne diesel engine on to a Highways Agency traffic-womble car –
doing my bit to tidy the roads…while creating the world’s fastest
diesel. Plus I’m joined by tame racing driver The Stig who gets a
big surprise – as do you when you see what he likes to do with
sheep. And everything else explodes.
Enjoy….."

"For my all new DVD, I’m in the South of France.
My base? - The high-tech testing ground for Formula One - Circuit
Paul Ricard. My mission? - To find find my favourite car of the
year.
My candidates? - For starters there's a pair of Ferraris... the V12,
6.3 litre FF and the 458.
There’s the UK challenger to the 458... McLaren’s MP4-12C. Joining
the action are the latest gizmo-laden Nissan GTR, Porsche's GT2 RS,
the 570-horsepower Lamborghini Performante and the built-for-fun BMW
1M.
Helping me are tame racing driver The Stig and the not-so-tame
Formula One new boy, Karun Chandhok. I look into the future - in the
shape of the hybrid-engined Mugen Honda CR-Z... And there are blasts
from the past as well. The beautiful Eagle Speedster - a modern
twist on the iconic, timeless E-Type...with its 4.7 litre engine -
and an eye-watering £500,000 price tag. And there's the all new
Jensen Interceptor R with its 6.2 litre Corvette motor.
Plus, from the minds of boffins at a German museum, there’s the
mighty Brutus...a vintage car fitted with a flame-spitting BMW
airplane engine. Also there’s enough in-your-face power to flambé
your eyebrows from the single-seater, super-lightweight B.A.C. Mono
- capable of 0-60 in 2.8 seconds.
Circuit Paul Ricard tests all these cars and more to the limit...
But it's not all about performance on the track. I take to the open
road to see if small can be beautiful. I squeeze my sizeable
know-how into the bonkers Citroen DS3 Racing, the pocket rocket
Abarth 500C and the dinky Renault Clio Cup.
How to sum up all this action...Well, I sit in a chair, a man has a
mishap....And a brown car goes round a corner....
What more could you want?...
ENJOY....."

Jeremy Clarkson |
Jeremy is Top Gear’s figurehead,
looming large at the heart of everything Top Gear stands
for. He’s the man who made cars interesting even for
people who don’t drive thanks to a combination of
infectious enthusiasm, polished wit and a realization that
most folk don’t want to hear tedious mothering over
economy and boot space, they just want to know if it’s
fast and makes people fancy you more.
If Top Gear is like the
playground gang you always wanted to join, Jeremy is the leader.
He’s the oldest, the tallest and he can shout the loudest. |
Jeremy can utterly dismiss and
destroy a new car with just one well turned sentence yet when
he finds something he likes, no one else can be so
boisterously passionate and tell you exactly why you should
sell one of your kidneys to get one. That’s why he’s the
gaffer.

Hello :-)
IMPORTANT DVD INFORMATION FOR MY US &
CANADIAN CUSTOMERS:
As per the auction these are UK Region 2+4
DVDs (US/Canada are Region 1) and
you need a multi-regional (multi-zone) DVD
player to play them!
BUT don't panic just yet :-)
Many DVD players are easy to unlock.
Let me know the brand and model number of your DVD player so I see if
there is a simple unlock code for your player.
Many of my US/Canadian customers chose to play or copy these UK DVDs on a
PC before playing them.
I also see there are many economical Multi Region DVD players on EBay
($35-50).
Just do a search if you wish.
It seems a shame to let go of this great DVD set.
Cheers :-) |
