High-Back crucible has a raised back portion and tapers down along the diameter, making torch melting easier.  These crucible are made by the Slip Cast methodprovide longer and more stability when melting ...they are not made by the press forming. 

Crucible is made of fused silica and withstands temperatures up to 2500°F / 1371°C.
