A touching story, often told in Hendrix's own words, song lyrics, and poems--all amidst the backdrop of the turbulent '60s. Painted by Bill Sienkiewicz with creative consultation by Will Eisner, this biographical graphic novel examines Hendrix's childhood, his roots in the blues, his search for personal identity, and his dazzling rise to stardom. This is a graphic docudrama in comic-strip format of the turbulent life of rock star Jimi Hendrix. Like a cinematic docudrama, it hews to the events of Hendrix's career but creates dialogue and uses various devices - notably, snippets of Hendrix's lyrics as commentary on the action at appropriate moments - to heighten the drama of the guitarist's colorful life. It also marks the return to comics of one of the medium's most innovative artists, Bill Sienkiewicz, who, at the time of publication had been largely absent from the field for several years. His imaginative, evocative full-color illustrations and narrative mastery supply much-needed substance that turns a rock-bio-in-comics into a genuinely compelling package.

To say that this is a rarity is an extreme understatement. In fact, the original book was limited to 11,000 copies world wide; but this hand numbered edition, printed on thick stock and housed in a sturdy slipcase is one of only 1500 (that's only THIRTY PER STATE, assuming the rest of the world got NONE!) A copy of the signature page is shown right. As of this writing, I could find not a one, anywhere else at any price! Slipcased Hard Cover, 9x11, 128 pages, Full Color. If you want it in a week or less, you are going to have to bite the bullet and pay for Priority Mail which will get it there in 2-3 working days, 99% of the time, but it is more expensive.
