SALESMAN SAMPLE CALENDARS
Salesman Sample Calendars were used to demonstrate to merchants the print quality of the calendars AKA 'Art Hangers'. Merchants were often presented with several sizes & styles to choose from as well as the opportunity to print their company name, tag line, address & phone number for promotion of their business. Each year a new series of samples were printed for the salesman to help them sell more calendars. Salesman Sample Calendars are very rare & extremely valuable because previous year samples were almost always discarded & destroyed.

They sell for $9.99 & up on the Web. They call these Antique Reproductions made to look old. These fakes come in three versions: Lure Of Lace, Golden Dreams & Golden Dreams with Lace Acetate Overlay. They all have the same antiqued ivory board with corner scrolls & faked brown edges. They are NOT 1955 USA Lithographs, they are made in China. The greedy sellers selling these as VTG authentic originals are laughing all the way to the bank!!!

BELOW ARE EXAMPLES OF FRANKENSTEINED CALENDARS
BE INFORMED: Know what you're investing your money in. Double month pads are ONLY ONE PAGE WITH THE TWO MONTHS PRINTED PER PAGE. They are NOT two separate pads with 3 to 4 staples attached to the calendar. These examples are very poorly FAKED double month pads. So Obvious! Don't get scammed, honest sellers do not Frankenstein their items to appropriate your money. *NOTE AS SEEN ABOVE: There were never ever wooden dowels used as a hanger for any vintage calendar. VINTAGE Calendar Top Hangers AKA Metal Hangers are made from tin and factory attached.
MARILYN MONROE CALENDAR HISTORY
In 1946 Norma Jean began using the stage name Marilyn Monroe, but did not legally change her name until February 23, 1956. During the 1940s MM was modeling & posing for pinup calendars as well as magazine covers. The 1947 calendar entitled The Right Number is one of her first pinup calendar appearances. This calendar pre-dates the famous Tom Kelly session.
On May 27, 1949 MM posed for the calendar photograph that would one day make her a household name. Kelley produced 24 transparencies of two basic poses of MM lying nude on red velvet titled 'A New Wrinkle' & MM seated nude on red velvet titled 'Golden Dreams'.
Golden Dreams became the most popular of the two appearing on calendars, decks of cards, key chains, coasters, glasses & a host of other pinup collectibles. In December of 1953 'Golden Dreams' was used to launch the premiere issue of Hugh Hefner's Playboy magazine.
IMPORTANT: The first 1952 'Golden Dreams' calendars never had her name on them. The Golden Dreams calendars were produced throughout the 1950s & early 1960s AND they all have Marilyn Monroe's name on them. Original calendars always have 'Golden Dreams' written under her feet & the New Wrinkle calendar has 'A New Wrinkle' on the left hand side.
