Looking at Pictures

This beautifully designed softcover volume with stiff pictorial wraps and French folded flaps was published on the occasion of the above exhibition at Anthony d'Offay Gallery (London) and Knoedler  Company (New York) in  conjunction with a 1993 exhibit. It measures 8.25 by 10 inches and has 74 pages.
It features 24 lavish full page reproductions of the artists works, an interview, and a biographical chronology. There are also eloquent and well chosen quotes from Susan Sontag, Henry James, Virginia Woolf and others.  This catalogue was designed by famous British artist Gordon House -- no wonder it is so exquisite!
This catalogue was de-accessioned from the Denver Art Museum Department of Painting and Sculpture, and the first front end page bears their impressive sticker! On top is a crossed out price. Cool provenance for a catalogue!
There is minor agewear and shelfwear to the catalogue, including scuffing, scratching, etc. but it is otherwise in very good vintage condition. The inside pages are clean and tight and fresh and the illustrations are dazzling. NOT ex-library; NO markings whatsoever.
A must have for collectors, dealers, scholars and fans of Howard Hodgkin.
