An excerpt:

"Designs of large flowers and leaves, trailing vines, etc., look particularly well in this work; and borders for mantles (capes), table-covers, and curtains can be effectively decorated with it. The pattern is stamped as for ordinary embroidery and the designs and stitches used are such as will have the richest effect. Conventional roses, sun-flowers and lilies are very desirable; also the passionflower, ivy, chestnut, and pomegranates, too, are very handsome as are ears of wheat and barley, grapes, berries, etc., all work in well."

Pansies, blackberries and leaves, maiden-hair fern are also thrown in the mix in this item!

Included in this historic treasure-house are many etchings and illustrations to assist one in completing the examples included! Of course, the clever needle worker will be able to create her own designs as her personal muses so desire...
