Beautifully preserved vintage Roman Catholic oval-shaped medal made of hallmarked "930" Sterling silver likely c. early to mid-1900s, in Netherlands. The medal is scratched and worn out as result of devotional wearing, and is covered with the original, uncleaned dark silver patina.

The obverse bears a larger image of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary as a Lady who appeared to St. Bernadette in 1958 and identified Herself as the Immaculate Conception. The Marian apparition is now known as Our Lady of Lourdes.

The other side bears an image depicting the Blessed Virgin Mary with St. Bernadette in the rock cave grotto at Lourdes. In 1862, Pope Pius IX authorized the veneration of the Blessed Virgin Mary as Our Lady of Lourdes. She is known as the Holy Patroness of France, Lourdes, South Korea, Tennessee, bodily ills, sick people, and protection from diseases.
