Pair Antique Sitzendorf Porcelain Gainsborough Portrait Figurines.

Circa 1865~85.

A beautiful pair of Sitzendorfer,Thuringia,German porcelain figurines.Both after Thomas Gainsborough's portraits.

Georgiana Cavendish.The Duchess of Devonshire and The Blue Boy.

Both standing on a scrolled socle base with coat of arms/crest and motto.

Hers..."Cavendo Tutus"..."Safe by been cautious"and measures 11.75"tall

His "Nobilitatas virtus non stemma character"..."Virtue not pedigree should characterise nobility" and measures 11.5"tall.

The bases has the Sitzendorfer mark

Condition is generally good with wear/rubbing in some places.

She has some damage to front flower,one finger and back bow.He has some old restoration to the base..All clearly shown in photos 9,10,11 & 12. there are signs of wear etc all commensurate with age and use.

The pair are very detailed and quality made,that display very well.

Great cabinet pieces for new and old collectors alike.

The pair weighs 2.755 kilos unwrapped.

Displays superbly in any period or contemporary setting.
