SATURDAY'S TOYS presents...  a one-of-a-kind offering from the personal Mickey Mouse Club collection of original 1950's Mouseketeer Lonnie Burr.

Lonnie's personal description of this historic collectible:

"Lonnie’s performance worn white turtle neck, “LONNIE” in silver lamé on front, vinyl MICKEY MOUSE CLUB logo, red circling white, Mickey’s face and words on back, resting on a vintage Disneyland Hotel hanger. Worn for 1980 NBC 25th Anniversary TV Special “25 Years of Mouseketeers” on which Lonnie starred with other Mouseketeers and created as Creative Consultant behind the camera. 

Included is b/w studio publicity still in which Lonnie wears the shirt; also pictured are Annette, Sharon, Cubby, Doreen, Karen, Bobby, and Tommy. 

Note: The other significant part of this costume Lonnie’s Mouseketeer Ears as seen in the photo and created for this TV Special, were donated by him to the Smithsonian Museum of American History in Washington, DC. They were on public display from 2013-2015 and remain part of the general collection. "

Lonnie Burr starred as one of television's famed Mouseketeers of the "Mickey Mouse Club", which also included Annette Funicello, Bobby Burgess, Cubby O'Brien, Karen Pendleton, Doreen Tracey, Sharon Baird, Tommy Cole and Darlene Gillespie... along with adult leaders Jimmie Dodd and Roy Williams.  These talented performers were among the "original nine" who would appear on all three seasons of the program's daily episodes.

Lonnie was honored to have been inducted as a Disneyana Legend on July 18, 2014 at the Disneyana Fan Club's annual "Legends Award" ceremonies.  Also honored that day was Karen Dotrice (Mary Poppins, Three Lives of Thomasina, The Gnome-mobile).

The following year, the Walt Disney Company celebrated by 60th anniversary of the Mickey Mouse Club by presenting Lonnie Burr and each of the Mouseketeers with one of the "Mousecar" Awards from Walt Disney's remaining personal inventory; still in storage after all these years.  Beautifully restored and mounted for presentation, Film historian Leonard Maltin presented the awards with Rebecca Cline, Director of the Walt Disney Archives. 

In his Hollywood career both before and after the Mouseketeers, Lonnie worked with dozens of entertainment legends including Jimmy Stewart, Elvis Presley, Roy Rogers, Eddie Cantor, Bob Hope, Sammy Davis Jr., Clayton Moore (The Lone Ranger), Carol Channing, Robert Preston, Jack Benny, Ginger Rogers, Abbott & Costello, Dean Martin, Buddy Ebsen, Pat Boone, Jimmy Durante, Jerry Lewis, Steven Spielberg, Bob Fosse, Cecil B. de Mille and many more.
