Art Nouveau SILVER VESTA CASE Repoussé Embossed Match Safe French hallmarks 32g

 

An Art Nouveau (Victoria era?) solid silver vesta case with absolutely splendid repoussé work with textured sea, land or sky background and raised draped decoration and flowers, etc. 

 

I believe the tiny hallmarks are French – please see image.

 

In very good condition with just a couple of corner dents and some scratching to the monogram.  The inset steel striker has rusted away somewhat.  The hinge is good and the lid fits well.

 

Height 2.29 inches (58 mm) x width 1.45 inches (37 mm) x thickness 0.54 inches (14 mm).

Weight 31.9 grams.
