Testing the pH of water is important:

  • Very low or very high pH can be an indicator for problems with water quality.
  • This is especially the case for water in swimming pools & spas, aquariums and private water supplies. If the pH is too high, then the desinfectant can not work properly. If a pH is too low, then water can be corrosive for metal parts, ie, lead from lead pipes can leach into water or metal parts can be damaged.

The pH scale ranges from 1 to 14, these SimplexHealth pH test strips have a wide test range from 2 to 12.

Tap water should have a pH of 6.5 to 9.5, rain water can have a pH < 5. Pure water should have a pH of approx 7.

This pH test utilises a unique dual-pad indicator system, which makes the tests very reliable. Both indicators are designed to work in unison, providing a wide range of color development. Additionally, the dual-indicator system makes color matching easier and more reliable since both colors are uniquely different from each other.

How to Use:

1) Dip the test strip into water the water sample for 10 seconds with constant, gentle forth and back motion
2) Remove and shake once briskly. Wait 20 seconds and match with closest colour block for each pad. Complete readings within 10 seconds.
