Description/Interesting Notes:
A very rare, old time example of native gold WIRES with petzite and pyrite from this seldom referenced historic Colorado locale!!! This specimen hosts
several prominent wires of native gold in association with sharp pyrite crystals on a very rich petzite matrix!!! The native gold wires are
surprisingly rigid and exhibit handsomely curling forms!!! Upon close study there are many more smaller wires as well!!! The pyrite crystals are sharp, modified cubes
with a superficial darkly colored coating (some of this same material covers some of the smaller gold wires as well)!!! In person the sharply formed
pyrite crystals are much more prominent and readily discernable - providing a nice compliment to the wires!!! Upon close study
with a loupe or scope one can see that there is actually quite a bit of native gold intergrown throughout the dense, petzite rich matrix (in the pics there is an area
where some petzite matrix has been worn smooth and you can see that area is almost half gold - and it is even more apparent in person)!!!
This is a really incredible specimen on many levels and is way WAY better than the pics show!!! This is VERY rich gold ore and weighs a hefty 44.25 grams!!! This specimen retains an ore bag with locality info on it (in lieu of
label!)!!! Specimens of wire gold are etremely rare and highly sought after - don't miss out!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
