Eastman Kodak Retina III reflex 35mm film camera. Serial number EK819681. With Schneider Kreuznach Xenon 50mm f1.9 lens, serial number 7173628. Camera and lens made 1961-1964. This camera has been modified by camera expert Peter Dechert.


KNOWN MODIFICATIONS: Light meter removed, (or at least sealed over). Rewind knob replaced with custom rapid type. ASA dial removed or covered over. Stock lens cap replaced by metal screw in type.


TECHNICAL NOTES: Tested camera functions including shutter speeds, MXV (flash synchronization and self timer) settings, wind/rewind, frame counter. All the shutter speeds tested within tolerance, except for 1/500 which is 1/350-1/400. This camera does not feature an instant return mirror. The mirror is reset when the camera is wound.


CONDITION: Camera and lens very good overall. Minor rub marks to front ring outside of lens barrel, light rub to bottom cover by opening lever. Dust specks inside finder (not affecting image quality). Lens glass and shutter blades clean. The Xenon 50mm f1.9 lens was the fastest optic made by Kodak for this camera. This camera and lens was made for Eastman Kodak in Germany, and is very high quality production.
