The Magnavox Company of Oakland, CA. were pioneers in the development and manufacturing of sound amplifying apparatus. The Company developed and patented the voice coil which would drive the diaphragm at the base of the speaker. It resulted in spectacular sound for the day and was promoted by Radio Magnavox as a system that removed the last limitation and restriction from the use of home radio sets: "...the receiving set brings the music or speech...Maganavox Radio reproduces it". This " as found" example, The Magnavox Type A1R Model A, with Serial Number 3831, is a combination amplifier-reproducer and includes an extremely rare Magnavox Type A Tube !!!

Overall, the horn has minimal damage or imperfection. It is a 15" fiber bell...impossible to find...with a metal neck. The Magnavox decal is original and wonderful! The bell itself has some dings, most evident top left. This is more visible on the rear picture of the bell. The neck is generally excellent with some wear. There are a few paint spots missing but no dents or dings!

The amplifier base is pretty good! It is a brass cabinet that sits upon a wooden base. There are two dings on the rear top corners and some modest paint scratches. I believe the dents can be significantly improved if you want...but I would leave everything "as is"!  The reproducer shows the proper continuity.  The audio transformer is good on the input.  The output is disconnected, but the connection point is visible.  I did nothing to correct.  Internally there is the normal resoldering...

Included is the very rare Magnavox Type A Amplifier vacuum tube with a good filament!! Magnavox Type A Amplifier tubes were promoted as a tube that had very low internal capacity. You will have a very hard time ever finding one of these relics!!
