Malaysia: Heart of Southeast Asia, 1997 This book is one of a group of books I am listing that are all large photo books highlighting different Countries.  It includes a Foreword by Adibah Amin and essays by Gavin Young and Paul Wachtel. From the flap of the dust jacket, “Malaysia’s incredible natural cultural diversity makes it impossible to do justice to the different realities that make up life here.  For this book, 46 of the finest photographers drawn from the great magazines and photo agencies around the world, were assigned to capture different faces of life in Malaysia during one week in August 1990. Photographers stalked the shy proboscis monkey, explored the deep caves of Mt Mulu, and trekked to the Country’s highest peaks.  In air-force helicopters and undersea in scuba gear, they sought the new angle on Malaysia. In remote jungle communities, in plantations and rice farms, in tin smelters and car factories, in the longhouse and in the kampong, at the temple and the mosque, photographers captured images of the myriad ways Malaysians live their lives. Images of great beauty, moments of great charm, insights and inspiration, all these can be found in the photographs assembled and lovingly reproduced in this book.”
