Another rare collector's piece from the Asahi Optical Company of Japan:

The M42 Mount Pentax K

This was manufactured between May 1958 and May 1959, and was simultaneously sold by Sears Roebuck under the "Tower 29" Model Name.

The Pentax K was co-produced with the Pentax S with the major difference being that the K has a max shutter speed of 1/1000, where the S is limited to 1/500.

Only 21,454 Pentax K bodies were produced. They are the third fewest produced model after the S and the AP.

The current example is in excellent condition however, I have not put any film through the camera as my intent is to sell it to a collector for use as a display piece.

There are two minor dents on the prism exterior but this can be concealed with an accessory meter unit.

The shutter curtain is hanging up and the mechanism likely needs a clean and lube.

This is an excellent piece for a display in a collection, especially as it is very difficult to find the Model K, especially one that comes with a period correct lens, the Auto-Takumar 2.2 55mm.

Also comes with leather case - See photos above.

The photographs say it all. This is a rare camera in optimal collector's condition.
