1. Broken bank notes or obsolete currency were used up until the American Civil War made notes issued in one state not acceptable for use in other states.  The Civil War forced the US Government to make notes that was backed by the Federal Government and therefore acceptable in any US State.  They are an important part of American Hisory.
  2. There are two sources of information on these.  Haxby is a 4 volume set of books that is very hard to find and the newly released Don Kelly on Obsolete Currency, each has its own followers.
  3. We start all auctions with a buy it now, then a price that is less then that but will buy the bill and finally a price below that that eBay will not bother to forward anything below that to us.
  4. We do combine Postage and Handling (P&H), so if you are going to try to get more then one item, please do not pay for the item until we can sen you an invoice.  In case (and this does happen), you pay and then add items.  we will work with you to refund the additional P&H up until the time the item is shipped and please be aware that we take shipping rapidly very seriously.

Per instructions from eBay we are putting the following notice in all of our auction items.  We will continue to ship the item(s) that you win as rapidly as possible.  If you are having items sent outside of the United States than certain Customs Offices may delay the delivery of these items and neither eBay nor our business have no control over this.  For items that are being sent to certain countries, we cannot send insured, but we can send registered.  If we feel that an item will go over a certain amount we will add the appropriate amount to the P&H to provide tracking or insurance in the U.S. as per instructions from eBay.   We will also drop the registration fee to a smaller amount if you are a customer known to us or in a country where we have had no security issues.  Give us a chance to send you an invoice so that we can do that.  Sorry about all of this, but the world has changed somewhat.

Our return policy is simple.   If for any reason you do not like the items, send it back within five days of receipt and we will refund your auction price.   If it is being returned because of a mistake that we made we will also pay for postage both ways.  If we find that you continually win, get and return we will block you as a bidder.  This has always been our policy and now eBay demands that we place it in the auction.  There are certain items that we will not allow to be returned and we will place that in the description of the item as follows:  “This auction item is not returnable”.  Now to add to this, unfortunately a higher percentage of items that we send out “disappear”.   Occasionally we will send certified or registered with tracking.  We do not like this as it costs you more and makes us stand in line for ½ hour.   But in today’s environment, it may be necessary.   You as the customer if you want this should let us know before we bill you so that we can do this.   To us, you the customer is always right, however with that said we are not a “buy it, try to sell it for more and if you cannot - return it”, business and with close to 50 years as a professional dealer I pick up on this very quickly.   With that said we do make mistakes or you may buy something “cheap” and think you bought a thousand dollar item.  Sorry, I have been around too long for that.   We will give you some great bargains and do our best to make you happy.   Good luck bidding.
