A collection of proof etchings by the accomplished landscape painter and photographer Theophile Narcisse Chauvel (1831-1909), including 'Swamp in the Forest of Fontainbleau' by Theodore Rousseau, 'On the Shore' from the picture by Van Marcke, 'Spring at Neslette in Normandy' from the picture by E. Van Marcke, 'View near Tervueren' from the painting by Hippolyte Boulenger, 'Scene in the Neighborhood of Norwich' by Old Crome, 'Sunset' by Corot and others. Fourteen plates tipped onto heavy card stock, embossed 'Bristol A1' in upper right hand corner. Front board heavily stained with loss of gilt, heavy splitting to vellum along upper and lower spine joints, heavy scuffing and scraping to both panels and wear to corners but binding solid. Corners of several card mounts broken away (not affecting plates), but etchings sharp and bright and in excellent condition. OCLC locates just the one copy at University of North Florida.
