Here
on offer is a gorgeous antique Chinese engraved and pierced mother of pearl
gaming counter, from the late 1800s or
early 1900s.
The counter has been
completed with finely engraved details on both sides and framed with an
engraved border. The front and back of the counter have a cameo featuring a scholar
in an oriental garden. It has been pierced to act as a fob or possibly a
pendant.
Dating from the 19th
Century, these counters were made by a craftsman with a burin or graver tool,
working the mother of pearl, possibly for a wealthy Englishman travelling
abroad.
This beautiful gaming
counter is offered in good antique condition with fine detailing still intact
and is without damage. It measures about 2.8cm in diameter.
A wonderful addition for
any collector
