This is an exceptionally rare formerly classified photo of a C-124 Globemaster II with Atomic Bomb cargo from an estate sale. This photo raises some interesting historical questions on the C-124's missions in the late 1940's as no record that we know of shows this model being in support of Pacific nuclear testing - very interesting!. Photo measures 4.5 x 4 inches

The back of the photo is labeled "A Bombs arrive at Kawajalein". This was a classified photo of Atomic Bombs being delivered to Kawajalein Atoll in the Marshall islands. The photo might be part of the end of Operation Crossroads or the Nike Missle nuclear tests that took place afterwards. Research shows that the aircraft shown were part of the  2nd and/or 3rd Provisional Air Transport groups although no official records exists that we could find of these aircraft ever being involved in nuclear testing in the Pacific.
