Here is a recent estate find. This is a Rare Antique 19th Century SETH THOMAS Walnut Parlor Mantel Shelf Alarm Clock with Rare Winward's Alarm Mechanism, made by the Seth Thomas Clock Company USA, circa 1888. It has a Beautiful Carved Walnut Wood Case with Applied Trim, and Reverse Painted Glass Tablet! The Dial is the Original Paper Over Tin Dial, Signed "S.T. USA", with Some Staining. It has a Signed Seth Thomas Brass Mechanical Key Wound Movement. A Label Inside the Clock (Barely Readable) says "Winward's Grand Invention Musical Double Alarm Eight Day Clock." The Usual Strike Train Has Been Removed From the Movement, and Replaced by an Alarm Mechanism with Two Clappers, Which Simultaneously Ring a Cathedral Coil Spring Gong Chime and a Bell Chime (Very Loud) at an Hour Set by an Alarm Wheel in the Center of the Dial. There is a Lever At The Top Of The Case to Shut The Alarm Off, Very Unique!!! There are 2 Winding Arbors, and It includes a Winding Key and Correct Regulator Pendulum. The Clock measures approx. 21 1/2" Tall x 14 1/2" Wide x 4 1/2" Deep. This Clock Runs and Keeps Time, But Has Not Been Serviced! The Alarm Function Works, But Needs to be Adjusted, Sold As Found.
