Rustins Yacht varnish
- Tung oil based wood finish available in gloss and satin finish.
- Suitable for all types of exterior hard and soft woodwork such as doors, window frames, cladding as well as marine woodwork.
- Good resistance to rain, sunlight, frost, salt and chemically polluted atmospheres. A high degree of flexibility, giving enhanced protection to cracking, checking and loss of adhesion. Conforms to Safety of Toys Regulations BS EN 71 Part 3 1995.
- Surfaces to be varnished must be dry, clean, smooth and free from dust, oil, grease and other contaminants.
- Apply by brush. The first coat on new wood should be thinned with 25% White Spirit and applied with a good quality brush.
- Three coats are recommended but porous end-grain or wood that is badly weathered may need further applications.
- May be applied over old existing coating if these are in good condition and rubbed down to provide a key. Coatings not in good condition should be removed with Rustins Strypit Paint and Varnish Stripper. If applying over wood preservatives test on a small area to ensure the varnish dries and adheres well. Cannot be applied over Creosote.
- Stir well before use, if not stirred until there is no sediment at the bottom of the tin, the paint may dry with a gloss finish.
- Drying time 12 hours depending on temperature and humidity.
- Re-coating Time 12 hours depending on temperature and humidity.
- Coverage displayed are approximate depending on surfaces being covered.
- Can be stowed for many years if stored in cool dry conditions with the lid tightly closed.
- Please note no matter how much care we take in wrapping your parcel occasionally tins get dented, this has no effect on the quality of the paint.
