PROVEN POWER SOLUTION FOR LATEST GEN RASPBERRY PI 4
With the 2019 release of the Raspberry Pi 4 Model B power is now supplied via a USB Type C connector. USB-C features a modern connector design that's reversible so it's easier to plug in and can also carry significantly more power; which is a good thing as the Raspberry Pi 4 Model B is quite frankly a power pig.
The “OFFICIAL” Raspberry Pi 4 Power Supply
To support the increased power requirements of the Raspberry Pi 4, the “OFFICIAL” Raspberry Pi 4 power supply output has been increased to 5.1V @ 3A (3000mA) and now sports a high current fixed cable terminated into a USB-C type Plug.
Sorry still no “OFFICIAL” Raspberry Pi 4 On/Off power Switch
Unfortunately, despite moving to USB-C for power delivery, the “OFFICIAL” method to power cycle (switch On/Off) your Raspberry Pi 4 is still to just “yank the plug”. Yes that’s right, it’s 2019 and the “OFFICIAL” Raspberry Pi 4 on/off solution is to physically “yank the (USB-C) plug” out of your poor (expensive) Raspberry Pi 4 to turn it off and simply “replug” the live power connection to turn it back on.

At LearCNC we are always looking for opportunities to overengineer stuff and as such welcomed the lack of a satisfactory Raspberry Pi 4 On/Off solution to re-engineer our existing range of Raspberry Pi switched power products (arguably the current “de facto” standard Raspberry Pi 3 / 2 / 1 power solution) to support the increased power requirements and new USB-C connector type.
The LearCNC USB-C Power Switch Adapter Cable having passed all our inhouse testing is now available for immediate dispatch. We believe our switch cable forms the perfect compliment to the “OFFICIAL” Raspberry Pi 4 Power Supply and will certainly become the new “de facto” Raspberry Pi 4 power supply solution.
