It is dedicated to a mammal of a number of cetaceans, a representative of the dolphin family in the fauna of Ukraine, a narrow-relict relict subspecies of which the Black and Azov seas are distributed. Azovka is listed in the Red Book of Ukraine and the European Red List.


On the obverse of the coins in the frame of a wreath formed from images of individual species of flora and fauna, there is a small State Emblem of Ukraine and inscriptions in four lines: on a coin made of silver - UKRAINE, JUNE 10, 2004, as well as the designation of metal and its samples - Ag 925, mass in purity - 31.1, in addition - the Mint logo of the National Bank of Ukraine.
On the reverse of the coins are two azovs with air bubbles, below is a bush of algae, and circular inscriptions are placed: AZOV (on the right) and PHOECENA PHOECENA RELICTA ABEL (on the left).
