Kit of parts to make a Mosfet Treble Boost pedal based on the classic Super Hard On

Kit contains high quality parts including - Alpha pot, Panasonic audio grade capacitorsfor the electrolytics and a metalised film for the non electrolytic.  Tinned copper stranded wire. Genuine On-Semi mosfet.  These parts cost more than the cheap generic chinese parts but are more reliable and improve the sound quality.

This is the version of the kit without a metal case, see my shop for a kit with a pre drilled case.

Instructions, 6 Pages of A4 with diagrams and build notes.

Knob, foot switch, pot, sockets, circuit board, components, wire, battery Clip + allen key to tighten the knob.

The first 2 photos show the kit you will receive, the 3rd photo shows an example of a fully built and painted kit using a 1590b sized case.

I have chosen this design specifically as it is probably the most simple to build guitar effects pedal there is.  It is a simple boost that uses a mosfet as the gain stage, and will provide a very easy to drive load for your pickups, which can add sparkle.  Also the output can be turned up to overdrive the input of your amp.  Simple but useful.

Includes printed diagrams of the circuit, one diagram of the strip board layout, and a colour coding wiring diagram showing where the wires to the switch, pots and sockets go.  There are also a photo of the finished board to use as a guide.  There is a lot of information on the internet about building these.  If you want to try making a pedal this would be a good place to start before moving on to anything more complex.

All the parts are included except for a battery and a case (you need a standard 9v one).  I have made a pedal using the same parts and it sounds good, very clean.  I have not made a video as I don't think I could do it justice as I don't have a nice amp to record it through, there are a good few videos on youtube of the same design.

The parts included are listed below:
1 x Footswitch : A standard 3 pole dual throw switch.  Good quality and allows 'true bypass', that is sending the signal around the boost when it's turned off.
Sockets:
1 x 3 pole 1/4inch jack socket, 3 pole acts as a switch
1 x 2 pole 1/4inch jack socket

Components
All electronic components, including a transistor socket and the mosfet.
A ready cut piece of strip board with tracks ready cut
9v Battery Clip
Hookup wire about .25m each of red, black, blue and white
Printed instructions

The only extras you should need are:
  • A soldering iron and solder
  • Some wire cutters to cut and strip the wire (scissors can work)
  • Some pliers or an adjustable spanner to tighten the socket and potentiometer nuts
  • A battery 9v Rectangular type
  • A case, 1590b is the suggested size, or you can wire it into your guitar.
LED Option
I have left off the LED light. For 2 reasons:
1 It adds complexity
2 It draws more power than the circuit!

You could add one using the 3rd pole of the switch.
