With a reach of up to 500m in super mode, the Trigmaster Plus II is a radio trigger for off-camera flash. As a transceiver, the Trigmaster fits on the flash or camera hotshoe.  Aputure boast a solution for long-distance flash, scenarios such as shooting from the other end of a football stadium. The reach can even be extended to 1km, with an additional third trigger in-between as a relay.

Trigmaster Plus II 2.4G Flash Trigger

We only managed a range of around 320m in our tests, but we felt it coped well considering the challenging environment, and it does state that an open, flat area is required for the maximum 500m range.

The triggers use a 2.4G wireless radio system, making them compatible with all previous 2.4G Trigmaster models, and boast a success rate higher than 99.99%. When tested, we couldn’t fault the reliability, providing we were in range, we could always fire a shot without any hitches. It was only when we moved out of range or into a built-up area where the signal was blocked that we couldn’t fire our flash.

The triggers have a sync speed of up to 1/320secs and use 2xAA batteries as a power source per trigger, a six-level power indicator so you know you have enough juice. 1500mAh batteries give a standby time of 200 hours, or 80 hours when in use, and the front of the trigger

displays which of the four A/B/C/D control zones are in use, and the selected channel. The display’s a little hard to see in direct sunlight but was more than usable with a hand shading the controls. You can buy the triggers individually or as a pair and weigh 75g with dimensions 92.5x53x29.5mm. The Trigmaster Plus II is available for Canon, Olympus, Nikon, Pentax and Sony cameras.
