We believe in offering clients items that are unique and rare for aficionados of the antique and collector's world. Bibelot is a late nineteenth century word derived from the French word bel ‘beautiful’, meaning a small item of beauty, curiosity or interest. The word ephemera is derived from the sixteenth century Greek word ephmera meaning a printed or hand written paper not meant to be retained for a long period of time.

Fine and rare antique invitation to a New Year's Eve Ball at Ehrenburg Palace in Coburg hosted by Prince Alfred Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (1844-1900), and his wife Maria Alexandrovna, dated 31st December 1896, embossed with the Coburg and Imperial Russian coat of arms, signed by the Oberhofmarshal. They reigned as Duke and Duchess from 1893-1900. 

He was the second son and fourth child of Queen Victoria and was known as the Duke of Edinburgh from 1866 until he succeeded his paternal uncle Ernest II as the reigning Duke of Saxe-Coburg and GothaOn 23 January 1874, the Duke of Edinburgh married the Grand Duchess Maria Alexandrovna of Russia, the second (and only surviving) daughter of Emperor Alexander II. On the death of his uncle on 22 August 1893, the duchy fell to the Duke of Edinburgh, since his elder brother (the Prince of Wales) had renounced his right to the succession before he married. 

Ehrenburg Palace (Schloss Ehrenburg) is a palace in Coburg, Germany and served as the main Coburg residence for the ruling princes from the 1540s until 1918.
