Women's COLLARS Civil War Style Removable 4 Varieties White Cotton or Linen in your choice of four styles.

Women of the era used collars and undersleeves as a stylish way to keep their clothing looking clean and neat. It was easier to remove and launder collars and undersleeves, rather than their dress. It was also a way to add a different look to their outfits. Typically the collars were hand basted to the inside of their bodice. (They can also be attached with small safety pins.)

These collars all have a 1 1/4" wide flap that slides down into the inside neck of the bodice with the collar showing on the outside.

Style One is the standard fold over collar with pointed tips, the standard shirt collar. The collars measure 16" at the neck edge and 17" at the outside edge and is 2 1/4" wide at the back neck edge and 3" wide to the pointed tip.

The first collar shown is white cotton and is decorated with a piece of eyelet lace (know as broiderie anglaise in the 1860's) with a light blue satin ribbon.

The second collar is white cotton with a narrow row of off-white scalloped lace.

The third collar is fine linen decorated with an extra fine piece of beige antique lace with a series of oval shapes. It may be hand made lace.

The fourth and fifth collars are undecorated fine linen. One is more rounded the second is more straight edged.

Style Two is a diamond shape. Only the diamond shape shows on the outside front neck edge of the dress. The tuck-in part of the collar is 18" long. The diamond shapes are  2" from the neck edge to the tip and are 4 3/4" wide.

The first is linen with cut-work flower diamonds. The  third collar is linen with a narrow edging of antique ecru colored lace.

The second collar cotton broadcloth with narrow scalloped cotton lace.

The third collar is made of narrowly pin-tucked white cotton  material.

The fourth collar is a vintage collar in mint condition. It is made of cotton piquet with a cut-work edge. It was made sometime in the 1950's to 1960's in Western Germany after WWII and before the fall of the Berlin Wall.
