The Providence Lying-in Hospital ( site )
( consider that this map was printed in 1918, in the WW1 era, when the " Spanish Flu " was ravaging the world )
The Providence Lying-In Hospital ( later known as Women & Infants Hospital ) is a historic hospital building located at 50 Maude Street in Providence, Rhode Island.
At the time this map was printed, the site of the hospital had been selected , however the buildings had not yet been completed.

Brown & Sharpe Manufacturing Company
In the early 1900s, Brown & Sharpe was the world's largest manufacturer of machine tools , operating out of the sprawling Brown and Sharpe Manufacturing Company Complex.
( properties bordered by the following streets : Smith Street , Randolph Street , Dickens Street , Ravine Street , Ruggles Street )
( Randolph and Ravine Streets no longer exist, today , and this section of properties in Smith Hill , once owned by Brown & Sharpe, is now the site of several modern businesses, including Advance Auto Parts , Little Caesar's Pizza , etc. )
