About this Book

Condition:  Stapled pamphlet binding fully enclosed by a gloss (though faded) dust jacket in exceptional condition for age.

The Lyre Bird Writers are a group of iconic Australian poets who wrote and published over two decades.

These highly sort after and rare published works were produced between 1949 and 1969.  Only seven poets were chosen to showcase Australian poetry.

The very first book of seven, Language of the Sand, is this particular title.

This was followed by:

1950 The Darkened Window by Nancy Cato

1951 Cyprus Pine by Ray Mathew

1951 Imminent Summer by Nancy Keesing, with a Norman Lindsay frontispiece

1954 Ploughman and Poet by David Rowbotham

1956 The Other Meaning, poems by Vivian Smith

1969 Tim Thorne published his book Tense Mood and Voice

The National Library of Australia does not have a complete set available to the public.

A truly collectible series.
