Greetings fellow Megatouch enthusiast!  :)

You love playing your Megatouch but want to try another software edition with different games, right? You already found the update CD's or DVD's (if not, see our other listings, we have many), and now you need the right disk player to hook up to your game... Maybe you excitedly took the disk player out of the old abandoned PC tower in your basement (feeling vindicated for arguing to keep that old computer when your spouse said to get rid of it)..., and then heartbreak. After all the trouble of pulling it out of the old tower and hooking up to the Megatouch, it didn't work.  So, then you found another old drive in a dusty PC tower forgotten in a storage closet where you work. Again, it seemed the right capability and speed suggested by the Merit instructions..., and maybe you even used the rare Centronics cable, but STILL no-go!  Grrr...

Yes folks, Megatouch games can be somewhat fussy about this, but the CD/DVD drives for sale here are guaranteed to work with Force and ION EVO's.  Choose between an older PATA IDE drive or a newer SATA. The PATA will connect to your game via a Centronics cable alone (very hard to find, but we have a few left sold separately), but that's only if your game's external Centronics port (often covered by a metal plate) hasn't been removed.  If it has been removed (usually to make space in horribly crowded EVO's) or you don't have a Centronics cable, then you will have to connect internally directly to the motherboard using a typical 40-pin ribbon cable(not included) for Force or ION purple motherboards. Purchase our SATA CD/DVD drive for use with SATA cables(not included) to your gold or green ION motherboard. These drives have only been tested with Force and ION platforms.  Please write to us with any questions!

The SATA drives are faster, fresher, and may be easier for you to use for purposes other than just Megatouch updates (like writing or burning DVD's, which the PATA drives can't do), but with the newer SATA you'll need a PATA-to-SATA adapter for connection to your 40-pin ribbon cable. No adapter needed if your ION motherboard is gold or green with SATA ports.

The pictures in this listing show what the drives look like generally, but aren't pictures of precisely the drive you will receive.  Still, they are all guaranteed to function properly, and the SATA drives are either literally new or like-new. Returns for exchange only.  With either the PATA or SATA drive, if the Centronics connector is gone from your machine and/or you don't have a Centronics cable, then you'll need a standard desktop computer internal power connection(4 wire molex connector:red, black, black, yellow) either extended from inside the Megatouch or from a separate outboard power supply to power the CD/DVD drive.  We have many other Megatouch parts not necessarily listed on ebay.  Again, write with questions as needed! Best of luck! :)

Megatouch Tips!: Keep EVO heat sinks and airways clean and all fans spinning at top speed! (Aim lowest fans to blow upward, top fans to blow out. If any doubt at all, replace fans with new ones.)  Renew CPU heatsink compound if you're handy with that sort of thing. Be meticulous about layout of internal wiring and connectors so when you close the monitor cabinet, the electronics aren't being crushed nor interfering with fans.  Replace CPU fan if self-test speed reports less than 3500rpm. Confirm that power supply voltages are correct, and if the power supply gets very hot, replace with one rated for 250 to 300Watts or more, which runs cooler and helps all components last longer.  Watch for bulging tops on failing can-shaped electrolytic capacitors, but don't replace them yourself unless you have significant soldering experience.  If game does nothing at all when switched on, possibly just dead button cell CMOS battery on motherboard. Read about jumper-starting ATX power supplies (or write me), gently replace battery, connect a keyboard to the game's motherboard, startup with delete button pressed, set Fail-Safe Defaults, then set Optimized Defaults, set BIOS date and time, disable any boot device other than ATAPI CD and IDE, set to Power-On after power failure.  Exit saving changes.  On Midway Infinity, no jumper-startup needed, just replace CMOS battery, press F1 or F2 at start-up, set time & date, set to Power-On after power failure, disable floppy A drive and set IDE as first and only boot device.  Exit saving changes.
