This is a cute vintage figurine of a little girl feeding birds thought to have been produced by the Thuringian Porcelain works of V.E.B Porzellanfiguren Garafenthal which combined together as part of nationalisation in 1951 with the Carl Scheidig K.G company. The V.E.B Porzellanfiguren Garafenthal closed in 1972 and The Carl Schneiders Erben factory closed in 1973. This figurine bears the green scissors backstamp for 1952-62. Under the porcelain figurine are the manufacturer's marks represented by a pair of scissors, and above the open scissors the words 'HAND PAINTED' and at the bottom 'UNDER GLAZE' which is barely legiable and on either sides the date 1859 appears. The word Foreign also appear on the bottom of the figurine both written in green and embossed into the porcelain (the word foreign would indicate that it is more than 50 years old). This sweet characterful figurine is that of a little girl with light brown hair tied up in bunches with two blue ribbons, she is wearing a short sleeve white and blue dress and a white apron, white socks and light brown shoes. In her right hand she is holding a bowl with what looks like bird food and with her left hand she is poised to feed the birds with the bird food she is holding in her hand.  Behind her is a fence with blue and white flowers growing along it. There are two little white and blue birds both looking up with their beaks open expectantly waiting to be fed. The little girl has a lovely happy smile on her face. The figurine measures approximately 10.1 cm (4 in) high and 7.5 cm (3 in) at the widest point. Please see the photographs as they too form part of this description. A highly collectible figurine, in very good condition and a wonderful item to add to the collection, to own or give as a gift. Thank you for looking and why not see what else I am selling.
