Fisherman’s Luck Henry Van Dyke With Autographed Letter

Description,

You are bidding on this 285 page hard cover book. 1905 edition. This is a  strange copy, some pages are different sizes with rough edges. The last page is attached to the last blank page. It was a factory mistake. They are joined together and never separated at the printer. These were probably reject copies they could not sell. I guess these are the copies you give away to your "friends" for free. The first page has some corner loss. Front illustration is loose. Nice cover. Found inside is a signed letter by Henry Van Dyke thanking Mr. Francis A. Lewis for a dinner invitation to the Contemporary Club. Avalon Princeton letterhead dated December 1, 1917. Envelope is dated December 2, 1917. Also found with these two items was a letter to Mr. Lewis regretting they cannot attend that dinner date with Henry Van Dyke. Dated December 5, 1917. Last name appears to be Steventon. Assuming that this was Mr. Lewis‘s copy of this book. Van Dyke was born in Germantown, Philadelphia and graduated from Princeton University in 1873. Friend of Woodrow Wilson and became US ambassador to Luxembourg and the Netherlands. Friend of Helen Keller. Officiated at the funeral of Mark Twain, noted author, clergyman, and poet.
