It has an interesting background and printing history, being printed in the third year of the Second World War.  Publishers in the UK were under strict limitations regarding paper usage - to ensure the country's resources were dedicated to the war effort.  The USA wasn't under the same restrictions. This book was put on sale in the same year as USA entered WW2 But this particular book was extravagant in the use of paper. I'm guessing it was an 'up yours' from the Yanks to the Poms.  They printed only one side of each page but folded the page so that it appeared printed on both sides.  Essentially they used twice the amount of paper they needed to.   Most publishers would print a 15cm x 19cm page on the same size piece of paper, printing both sides. In this case the printer has printed the 15cm x 19cm page on a 30cm x 19cm size piece of paper then folded it in half. Matt red cloth boards with an illustration by Blackwood pasted on front as issued. A little wear all round. Illustrated end-papers and a pencilled price on the first page. No inscriptions. Good clean condition throughout, showing some minor page creases from a much loved & read book. Please check pictures and don't hesitate to ask if you have any queries!       H5
