This auction for:

 Antique Railroad Bank Check

Description:

Note: I will be listing a large number of railroad paper – checks (from the 1860s through 1908, with many obscure railways) & timetables (1920s-70s) and railroad & train station postcards – check my other auctions or view my store under transportation collectibles to see more!

This is a 1907 check from Ferrocarril de Cananea, Rio Yaqui y Pacifico of Tucson Arizona. The check is made out for $3.05 to the Delaware Lackawanna & Western RR (DL&W RR) for interline ticket balances.

Per Wikipedia: Cananea-Yaqui River and Pacific Railroad , subsidiary of the Southern Pacific Railroad Company .

History

It was created on April 27, 1905. Initially it connected Guaymas with Guadalajara , although later it was extended to Sonoran cities like Navojoa and Alamos . Then a new project began to extend a part of the railway to Empalme , where it would connect with the Sonora Railway. The project was successful in 1906 , and that year the construction of another line that linked Guaymas with Nogales and that would connect with the Cananea Consolidated Copper Company railways was planned. The railroad communicated to all Sonora in 1907 . Chinese, Russian and Mexican labor were used for this. The railroad disappeared in 1909 , when merging with the South Pacific Railroad of Mexico, also of the Southern Pacific Railroad.

So this railroad only existed for 4 years!!

There is a hole in the center of the check with 3 radiating ½” each tear lines.  Nearly invisible when laying flat.

Excellent old ephemera!

Contact information:

You can contact me by clicking on ask a question link near the bottom of this page.  Or you can click my seller name and click ask a question.

Please contact me with any questions you may have.

Terms/Conditions:

Payment accepted via PayPal only due to Ebay restrictions on other forms of payments.  Seller reserves the right to refuse bids of users who have had payment or dispute issues in the past.

Pennsylvania buyers must pay 6% sales tax (on price + shipping and handling and insurance), I am passing this straight through to the state.  If you have a valid tax ID number, you must e-mail me a copy and statement that you are buying for resale.

Shipping/Handling:

Shipping & Handling price is actual cost for USPS mail.  International shipments will either be through the Ebay global shipping program or actual cost + $2.00 handling.

With Ebay requirements of tracking, all items cost at least $3.09 including envelopes – not to mention, packaging supplies, envelopes, and gas.

Items shipped internationally will NOT be marked as gifts.  I will state value of Ebay item as in the invoice.

I will combine shipping on multiple items won within the same week (if you need longer than one week, contact me and we can determine if it will work pending my heavy travel schedule).  Ebay combined shipping often overstates the price, as it takes into account total weight of each item, so ask for a combined invoice and I will get you a correct total.

Personal Note:

Hi everyone, I have been using ebay almost since its inception and have an excellent feedback record. I do my best to accurately describe items, answer questions, and communicate upon completion of auctions. I have been digging/collecting/buying/selling bottles since I was 13. Thirty-odd years later, I have quite an accumulation of "stuff." I probably have 10,000 bottles and jars of all kinds, and have accumulated hundreds of thousands of paper items and miscellaneous other items as well (over 100,000 matchbooks alone). If anyone is looking for anything special, please ask me to auction it on ebay. I can’t list specifics here or I will violate ebay policy, so please take a look at my store and other auctions!!

Our items come from a smoke-free and pet-free home. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding!  Keith Camilli (KAC)
