the pair
what is cool about these is that they are clearly a pair bu they are not identical. each is painted distinctly: cherry blossoms, birds, chrysanthemums. they are both the same size: 2 1/2" tall. the inside of the mouth of the jar is 3/4". the inside diameter of the foot of the jar is 1". it is 7" in circumference at widest. each jar reads on the underside: «oriental» and «made in macao». given that it is designed more for the western market's idea of what is «oriental» and that it is made in macao, my best guess is that this pair may be mid-century. colors are lavender, green, pink, blue, rust, yellow. my favorite part is where there is a lavender-colored bird that has its head tucked between its wings to sleep.
