Pickguard adhesive sheet, 3M 467, double-sided, 8.27" x 5.83" (210 x 148 mm)

This is the adhesive used by all the major US manufacturers and is much stickier than that provided with some cheap pickguards. Our standard size is ample for most guards. We can supply larger sheets to special order, e.g. for large Gibson batwing or J-200/J-185 guards. When fitting, make sure that you roll it on from one edge to another, avoiding air bubbles (though they can usually be sorted out by pricking with a pin if necessary). You can find more hints on fitting pickguards with 467 adhesive fim below.. And by the way we recommend Goo Gone™ if you need to remove old adhesive - it's readily available on EBay.

Fitting pickguards with 3M 467 adhesive film

1       Prepare pickguard, ensuring back is clean, and lay it face down on a clean surface.

2.       Remove protective layer from the 3M 467 film (not the side with the brown 3M-branded backing paper).

3.       Apply to the back of the pickguard, working from one side to the other to ensure there are no air bubbles. (If there ARE air bubbles, these can usually be pierced with a pin.)

4.       Turn the pickguard the correct way up and cut the film to size, using a sharp knife or small scissors.

5.       Make sure that the top of the guitar is clean.

6.       Before fitting, make sure of the correct location. We find it best to do this with the guitar upright (i.e. the neck pointing upwards) – looking at the guitar from the side can lead to incorrect placing.

7.       Mark the correct location with two or more pieces of masking tape. We also like to use a masking tape hinge to locate the pickguard.

8.       Remove the brown backing paper gently, and apply the pickguard, rolling it from one side to the other to ensure there are no air bubbles.
