The book is primarily designed for Orthodox parishioners that tend toward Protestantism. Metropolitan Stefan examines dogmas challenged at that time by Protestants.

The book was written in 1718 but first came out only ten years later in Oktober 1728 under strict supervision of Teofilakt Lopatinski. First edition of the book had 1200 copies. The book was republished in Moscow in 1720 and in Kyiv in 1730.
