the dish
do note! there is a stray gold pain spot on the reverse of the larger dish. however, this was done during production. and the smaller dish as a small spot (about 1/2"mm in length) in which gold is missing from the rim, though i think we acquired it already that way. (see second image.) pretty blues and purples with rims finished in gold. from what i was able to find, there is a great variety of royal worcester marks. i am guessing here: these are probably mid- to late- century. sort of a japanese bean plate/mamezara size. these have only been displayed. nothing else. one is a little larger than the other. the larger has a diameter from rim to rim of 4 1/2". its rim is about 3/4" away from the surface on which the plate rests. the smaller dish has an additional gold ring around the rim. it has a diameter of 4". the rim is a little short of 3/4" away from the surface on which the dish rests. the bases each have slightly different black royal worcester marks:

about royal worcester porcelain

(from: bbc.co.uk/herefordandworcester/content/articles/2008/01/10/worcester_porcelain_history_feature.shtml)
the porcelain factory was founded in 1751 with a royal warrant from king george iii.

in 1751 dr. john wall, and a group of local businessmen, established a porcelain factory. the earliest worcester porcelain was painted in blue under the glaze. by 1756 robert hancock had arrived at worcester, the first man to apply transferring of prints onto porcelain. around 1770 one of the first royal dinner services was made for the duke of gloucester. dr john wall retired in 1774, however his partners continued to manufacture until their london agent, thomas flight, took over. by 1789 the quality of worcester porcelain earned the company the prestigious «royal warrant» as manufacturers to their majesties—thus the word «royal» was added to the name. in 1840 manufacture was consolidated on the current factory site and major modernisation followed in 1862. The «worcester royal porcelain company limited» was the result of this work.

during the second half of the nineteenth century, royal worcester produced a new material called parian, which revolutionised figure making. exhibition pieces were created, such as the norman conquest vases, the potters' vases and the giant chicago vase, now on show at the museum of worcester porcelain. during the early 20th century royal worcester took a traditional approach to shapes and decoration. the factory celebrated its 250th anniversary 2001. the company went into administration in November 2008.

the fine print
the images are the majority of the listing description, so take a look at them closely.

shipping costs have really increased—this is calculated into the buy-it-now price.

i am not able to sell individual items from items i have listed as a group. i just don't have the stamina to create new listings for those. i apologize for that. i haven't initially individually listed items because i don't have enough listing slots to so.

trying to downsize some, though extremely melancholically.

shipping time: i otherwise work more than full time and my health isn't great, so kindly excuse the longer handling time. if i am able to ship sooner, i absolutely will do that. i appreciate you taking the time to view my listing.
