BLACK POWER Button
1 1/2" with straight pin - Made in the USA
POWER FIST
The iconic "Hand", created and designed, in 1965,
by Frank Cieciorka, a SNCC Field Secretary.
It has been used, since, by Movement Organizations Worldwide.
The raised fist is a universal symbol of Resistance, Persistence, and Power.
This particular button was made in December, 1969 for the Black Panther Party,
following the assassination, by the Chicago Police Department, of FRED HAMPTON,
who was the chairman of the Illinois Chapter of the Black Panther Party
and Deputy Chairman of The National Black Panther Party.
The pin has the Fox Buttons Credit Line, located at that time, in Hempstead, N.Y.,
along with a union bug on the curl. There is no rust or discoloration.
From the collection of LARRY FOX - "The Button Man" (Member: A.P.I.C.)
