An abridged, French, complete in two volumes, edition of Mezeray's chronology of history's emperors. This copy bound handsomely, if well-used, in the mottled leather design of contemporary French fashion.

Each volume measures approx. 17 x 10 x 3.5 cm. Mottled leather bindings. Marbled edges and endpapers. Spine with five raised bands; gilt decoration to the compartments with title and Tom in gilt in two compartments. 586, 617 pages.

Condition -

See pictures. Well-worn bindings, but still attractive. Edge wear, corners exposed, chipping at spine-ends, board rubs, broken bottom endband on Tom 2. Front joint of t2 cracked from bottom to half-way.  Bookseller ink price on back of flyleaf tom 1. Small hole in blank front endpaper t1.  Paper toned with varying foxing throughout both volumes.  Occasional moisture spot along edges, extending into the margin of text-block. More toning towards rear of T1.  "1754" written in ink at bottom of title page of t2.
