1952 Original Press Photo by INTERNATIONAL NEWS PHOTOGRAPHER DENNIS BURKE.
18 "Boots" form the Naval Air Station Boot Camp at Floyd Bennett Field are shown as they put a new rubber lifeboat through its paces in the first demonstration of the new craft today at Brooklyn, New York City.  The lifeboat which inflates in 30 seconds and provides protection for 15 survivors in either sub-zero or blistering tropical weather, was developed by the United States Navy and the B.F. Goodrich Company.  It is being manufactured in volume by B.F. Goodrich Co., and is expected to replace similar types of emergency equipment now on seagoing naval craft.
