Up for Auction is a FINE LARGE c1970 ENDRE LASZLO SZASZ HUNGARIAN FOLK SURREALIST OIL PAINTING PORTRAIT.  This is one of several Original Oil Paintings by Szasz fresh from a fine estate collection. I am told the paintings were acquired directly from the artist in the early 1970s and have never been offered for sale before, being fresh to market. The Painting is on artist board and nicely framed, ready to be hung in a home or corporate setting. Fully signed and titled to the reverse as seen.

Condition : excellent condition with no damage or repairs.

Size : Painting measures approx 23-1/2 inches by 13 inches sight size and the frame measures approx 27 inches by 16 inches.

Artist Bio : Endre Szász (1926- 2003) was a Hungarian graphic artist, printmaker, illustrator, muralist and ceramics decorator. He described himself as a Folk Surrealist. He was friends with Salvador Dali and other renowned artists.Between the late 1940's until the late 1960's, Szász worked as an illustrator. During this time, he illustrated a few hundred books. In 1959, he won an illustrator prize in the Leipzig Fair. In 1964 in Britain, he presented his works on Omar Khayyam's Rubaiyat. He had several exhibitions all over the world, including the Museum of Modern Art (Mexico City), Auschwitz Museum (Poland), the Hungarian National Gallery (Budapest), and also exhibited in Madrid, Copenhagen, Brussels, Berlin, Rome, Oslo, Johannesburg, New Orleans, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Budapest, Amman (Jordan) and Tokyo. A Szász original also hangs in La Sebastiana, one of the homes of the famous Chilean poet and diplomat Pablo Neruda..Szász lived in Toronto, Canada 1970-1974, then in Los Angeles, California until 1982, when he went back to Hungary.
