Local Pick-up Only!

Being offered is a 19th c. Antique French Louis XV-Style Walnut Arm Chair with Tapestry Upholstery.

This is a wonderful chair that I purchased about 22 years ago from a Kentucky estate. As found and still in "as found" condition and well cared for-protected.  Great chair in almost any room. I am guessing late 19th century.  Very comfortable scale and nice detailed carvings.  I have other photos to share with tapestry details, etc.  Give me a shout if interested in seeing them.

The chair frame is in good condition. Heavy and sturdy with a little looseness at the arms when pressure is applied. If one were going to rework the upholstery I would go ahead and reglue the frame. The frame is a little dry-looking and needs to be waxed or polished. I have not moved forward with doing it because not everyone likes the same finish-patina.  The seat springs are sagging a little due  to the underneath webbing having stretched over time....It needs to be replaced and or tightened.   Review photos for details and condition.

The tapestry....... The needle point and petite point tapestry is in disappointing condition. As you can see there is loss to the petite point canvas that was not stitched. Other cuts - rips to the larger needle point. The arm pads are wore of fibers in areas and the canvas has been painted to blend-in. This can be restored ....$$$  or it would be beautiful mounted in a clear acrylic shadowbox frame and hung on a wall....I have photos of examples to share if interested. And then you get to find a great fabric for the new upholstery!  The seat is upholstered in a wool gros point of some sort and it snags. The reverse back is upholstered in a faded & tattered silk damask. The antique brass patina on the nail trim is awesome.
