Up for sale is a rather attractive and rare portrait of Lord Byron after the painting by William West from September of 1826 as seen low center. This wonderful portrait shows a strong young man staring directly at the viewer unlike the majority which show him looking off to the side. The partially trimmed sheet measures 14.5 x 10.5 inches while the plate measures 8.75 x 7.5 inches. The condition while good does show some discoloration, light handling wear, a couple creases and sporadic foxing, all of which can be addressed by a conservator. The portrait is quite impressive executed with extremely fine detail and will look great when framed and on the wall. The images provided accurately represent the quality, condition and aesthetic beauty of this fine 19th century etching but if you have any questions please feel free to ask prior to purchasing!
