IMPORTANT WARNING!
In January of 2017, Roland Japan released a press release notifying users of SR-JV80 expansion boards to return their boards to Roland due to a risk of the smoking the electrolytic capacitor. This can lead to a catastrophic failure of the board, which can damage the synthesizer.
"To Expansion Board SR-JV80 Series Customers - Published January 27, 2017
Thank you very much for your patronage of our products on a daily basis.
The Expansion Board SR-JV80 series has been in production for more
than 20 years since the initial production, electrolyte in use may
rarely leak due to aged deterioration of the electrolytic capacitor
used. If electrolyte leaks out, in the worst case there is a risk of
smoking.
Customers who are currently using the SR-JV80 series with sound module or synthesizer should stop using them immediately.
If you continue to use this SR-JV80 series in the future, please consult the Roland customer consultation center.
Actually
it's a very rare occurrance, but I can replace the capacitor with a new
Hi Quality Panasonic one. You can stay safe for the next 25 years at
least.

| Number 12 in the Roland SR-JV80-series saga, the Hip Hop collection expansion board is a goldmine of old (and new) school sounds for urban styles such as Hip Hop and Rap, but it also features many other sounds suitable for Soul, Jazz Funk, Reggae, R&B, '70s Fusion, Disco etc. The loops contained in this board are phenomenal, programmed with taste and inventive - and they "swing" just the right amount to make your head bob following the rhythm. The basses are all classic analog of the Moog and vintage Roland variety, a must for these genres of music. A pleasant surprise is the addition of a bank of special effects and combinations that round up nicely this expansion board. |
